The grant would contribute towards the cost of 2 x 12-week pre-vocational training programmes incorporating Craft, Design and Technology in Textiles, developed around the City & Guilds Level 1 programme. Total costs are for a trainer £5,280; project co-ordinator £6,420; venue (including manufacturing workshop) £1,932; trainee support costs (travel, childcare) £1,917; volunteer costs £1,850; marketing/media/PR £385; graduation/networking events £320 and materials £880. £14,238 has already been raised from Leader (50% staff costs); Scottish Borders Council (materials/equipment) and School of Social Entrepreneurs (marketing). The balance is requested here. This initiative will provide routes into education, training, volunteering, employment and enterprise for vulnerable and disadvantaged women in rural Berwickshire facing barriers like disability, ethnicity, long-term unemployment, lack of qualifications, poverty, ill-health and abuse as well as offer business and social enterprise opportunities in the area. 21 women (14 trainees and 7 volunteers) would benefit
