To cover the cost of running costs for 9 monthly meetings for women aged 60+. The grant will cover the cost of transport, hall rent, speakers/demonstrations, bus trips and tickets to a show. The area is very rural and the group provides the only support for women to meet and learn, improving social inclusion and removing the feeling of isolation for many women. The age of members is 60+ but membership is open to all women in the community. The rural area brings transport challenges and a minibus is hired to transport all women to the meetings. This brings financial challenges as many women find this too costly, as well as contributions to rent and speakers, and becomes a barrier to participation. Few of the women can afford to take part in an annual trip which would be of social benefit.
