The grant will contribute the cost of a programme of specially tailored self-defence classes for women that have experienced violence. These would take place in different locations in Glasgow. These women may have fled domestic violence, or may be returning to a home where there is a danger of violence. The project will consist of 3 sets of 4 week classes (each session will be 4 hours), with the aim of ensuring that the women are able to defend themselves and break free from an attackers hold. In total 60 women will be able to attend these sessions and it is hoped that the women will then pass on their knowledge to others, resulting in more people benefitting.
