The grant will support the development of a support group for 16 female survivors of sexual violence and abuse. It will pay for room hire (£750), material (£200), outings and activities (£650) and refreshments (£400). The group was developed at the suggestion of a number of women who had used the counselling service. They felt that women needed support after the end of counselling to help them develop the social skills needed to re-integrate into community life. The group will offer peer support with opportunities to address the emotional and practical consequences of their shared experience. It will also provide access to fun activities which will help them focus on issues other than their experience of sexual violence. The group supports women who have survived sexual violence in their process of moving on and rebuilding their lives.
