Funding has been requested to help fund a drama project involving young women from migrant backgrounds. It will help to fund travel expenses, a video background for the show and artist?s fees. The project is being run in partnership with the West of Scotland Regional Equality Council and Ankur Productions. Twenty one young people are currently involved and are attending rehearsals four times per week. This will culminate in two show performances, free to the public, taking place in June 2015. The show is a youth led urban opera musical and will incorporate urban art, hip hop, break dancing and Roma music, dancing and singing. As well as aiming to empower young Roma women, the project aims to integrate different Roma groups from across Glasgow and with different origins, eg Slovak, Czech, Romanian and Polish.
