Project Details
Centre 81 steering group are an outcome-based organisation serving the community of Whitecrook. Whitecrook is in the top 10% of indices of all SIMD indicators, and in particular has a higher percentage than the Scottish average of females. Whitecrook has almost twice the average of lone parent families (51% opposed to Scottish average of 27%), and statistically of all UK families headed by a single parent 90% are women. It means that most of the children and families are predominately female led. The funding will enable the organisation to deliver 3 co-produced empowering women programmes that will support women to have increased self-esteem; increased confidence; build skills and reduce stress. The course will also support the women to have a voice. The programme will be delivered potentially using a blended model, including face-to-face and online, depending upon lockdown restrictions. It is recognised within the community there are higher than average domestic abuse incidences. By delivering this well-planned course they will improve the health and well-being of women, as well as their family, and support increased participation in local democracy, whilst supporting improved social economy. The project will directly benefit 24 women.
