Project Details
The applicant is requesting grant monies to fund virtual, free-period clinics and workshops that will target mothers of young girls from ethnic minority communities. The project will be a continuation of an existing initiative and project activities aim to help mothers build better relationships with their daughters by providing them with the right education and tools to talk about menstruation and the associated side effects. Workshops will be run virtually via Zoom. Activities will be delivered by a Period Place administrative worker who would work with volunteers (medical professionals) in delivering these workshops for a year. Having a committed staff working some hours a week to ensure the smooth running of the workshops will be key. The organisation hopes that beneficiaries will become knowledgeable on menstrual health and wellbeing and will make better choices for the girls that they care for. The workshops will build and improve parents? confidence so that they will feel more confident to discuss about periods without shame with their daughters. The project will commence in March and end in December 2022.
