The grant will contribute towards 8 x 10-week cycle confidence courses, co-designed with the beneficiaries, for 8-12 women each course. £7,200 is allocated to staff and £2,800 to operational costs including childcare and events. It will focus on developing cycling skills and confidence, basic bike maintenance, social events and film nights, wellbeing sessions, bike rides and free membership to the city-wide bike hire scheme Nextbike, providing access to a bike without the need to maintain/store it. Childcare will be provided along with access to baby seats/child trailers. Six women will be given the chance to train as an Assistant Leader. An estimated 96 very low-income women will benefit- 40% Asian, 30% white British and 30% other backgrounds.
