Investment theme: Building social networks
to contribute towards running the celebration day on Women Keeping Communities Together.
Amount awarded: £646
The grant will contribute towards the venue and catering costs of an International Woman’s Day event on March 12 2016. The total budget is £1,146 and FTYC will contribute £500 from their own funds, leaving a shortfall of £646. This annual event has recently become more expensive to run, because health and safety legislation means the organisers can no longer provide home-made food and the venue has to be accessible to all with disabilities. Lunch, coffee, a forum and raffle sessions allow for social interaction, the opportunity for issues raised to be discussed in more detail and the chance for attendees to visit stalls manned by local organisations. The networking side of the event is essential in allowing women to interact and become more informed and involved in local and international projects. A total of 80 women are expected to attend the free event which is always fully subscribed.
