Full description
We have had to change our way of working to manage the risks created by Covid-19 whle continuing to provide a service to families affected by domestic abuse. This includes staff working from home which has presented us with significant challenges as we do not currently have the infrastructure to support this. We have used organisational reserves to purchase additional laptops to enable staff to manage data securely and have applied elsewhere for further funding to expand this to other members of staff.
We plan to develop online methods of keeping contact with women and children affected by domestic abuse. Soem families have access to laptops or tablets and can utilise facilities such as zoom. Others do not have these resources and remain disconnected from supports and their community. We wish to purchase tablets to enable families to access online group or one-to-one support. This will include an online relaxation course and Write to Recovery course, both of which have been run as groups previously, however, we also wish to develop new courses to promote the mental health and wellbeing and recovery of women who have experienced domesic abuse. We also wish to engage chidren affected by domestic abuse through this medium, providing them support and activity while offering respite to their mothers during lock down.
