A £5,000 contribution is sought to the £9,570 Learn Together pilot project ? which will provide targeted support to migrant women. This grant will purely pay for a part-time Sessional Project Worker, who will recruit and facilitate weekly peer support groups during 2018, and into the crucial 2019 Brexit period. The remaining £4,570 has already been secured for running costs. Females can find themselves particularly isolated in attending mixed gender support sessions owing to cultural, religious or confidence issues. Skills development workshops in personal finance, digital inclusion, cultural awareness and conversational English will aim to help women feel more comfortable in their new surroundings. Ultimately, they hope to improve confidence, employability and empower women as active members of their local community. Up to 80 women may benefit from a range of countries and backgrounds.
