Full description
The grant would contribute towards project staff costs (£7,500.00); staff training (£150.00); transport (£200.00); premises costs (£1,000.00); insurance (£50.00); administration (£1,000.00) and advertising/publicity (£100.00) to run a financial literacy course for women who have been in the Criminal Justice system and who are at risk of reoffending. The courses would be delivered in partnership with Connect (based in East Lothian) and the Spring Project (based in Midlothian) which are support groups run by the Criminal Justice Service departments of the respective local authorities already running CBT programmes. Many of the women who will attend will be, or have been, affected by domestic abuse (including financial abuse); substance misuse and/or mental health issues and need support to integrate back into the community on their release from prison. Around 40 women per year would be expected to benefit.
