Amount awarded: £10000
Location: EDINBURGH
Full description
The grant would contribute towards staff costs (£35,120), lunch for participants (£7,600), materials (£4,000) and transport costs for participants (£2,400). This would enable them to; split the ?Expecting Something? group in Lochgelly with young parents and children under 12 months coming in the morning with young parents and children aged 1+ coming in the afternoon. There would continue to be a free, healthy lunch that both groups would share. This will be valuable in itself as many of the people attending the group may be living in poverty and/or find the provision of health food difficult. It would also provide opportunities for them to develop a peer network and make friends reducing isolation. Splitting the group would also enable them to alter activities slightly to cater for the different age groups and deal with the fact the Lochgelly group has grown. Also, Fife is very rural area and transport issues and costs can make some Fife Gingerbread have identified Kirkcaldy as an area where there are many single young mums who would really benefit from ?Expecting Something? being delivered locally. This grant would allow a group to be delivered in Kirkcaldy.
