Full description
The grant will provide a contribution towards the cost of venue hire (£1000), speakers? expenses (£1200), marketing costs (£200), 60 hours of development workers? time to manage the project (£1400), film screening costs (£300), and refreshments (£1000). This will support a series of events focusing on women and their relationship with the land ? the local environment and across Scotland. The programme will begin with a day-long conference featuring speakers including Lesley Riddoch, a herbalist, farmers, forestry workers, historians and an author/poet. This will be followed by eight smaller events and seminars throughout the year featuring botanists, arctic explorers, photography exhibitions, Gaelic tales, and film screenings. The project will support 300 women to develop positive social networks, share learning and gain new knowledge relating to the environment, Gaelic, and natural and cultural heritage.
