The grant will contribute to the cost of running their weekly support services for Women who self-harm. This runs on a Sunday from 12-5 and includes one to one counselling sessions, drop in support and a support group. The group has 10 members at present and about six attend each week. The group support each other to find strategies to overcome or minimise self-harming behaviours. A contribution of £2000 has been requested and this will help to cover staff salaries based on a rate of £10 per hour. There are two members of staff present at each session plus an additional volunteer. There is no charge to service users and the organisation is dependent on grants and donations to fund this work. They occasionally bring in outside speakers to talk to the group members and also provide a supply of dressings and bandages, as few of the members ever seek medical help for their sores.
