The grant will cover staff costs for a part-time youth worker (£670) and manager (£830) to deliver the Mentors in Violence Prevention Project. This will train and support sixth year pupils at the local secondary school to develop and deliver workshops to first year pupils around issues of gender violence and bullying prevention. Interactive dialogue is used to stimulate discussion about ways to intervene before, during, and after instances of harassing or abusive behaviour. It focuses on young women as empowered bystanders and supportive friends. During 2016-2017 50 sixth year pupils at Forrester High School will take part in the training and will then deliver workshops to 120 first year students resulting in 170 direct beneficiaries.
