Women’s Aid East and Midlothian Limited

Project Details

The grant will cover the cost of the salary of a programme manager for 15 hours per week by extending the time of an existing member of staff (£7427); childcare costs (£857) and workshop coordinator, materials, venue hire and participant travel costs (£1,715). This will allow WAEML to develop and deliver a new project called Survivors Social Network. The group will offer support to women who have moved on from the service to have and maintain connection with a peer support network of women who have had similar experiences. They plan to recruit two sets of volunteers to cover the two local authority areas. The volunteers will form a survivor?s board and receive training to deliver and organise workshops. Support groups and activities are also available where women can receive follow on support, for example, in many cases women can be no longer fleeing domestic abuse but still require support. 30 women to benefit from the project.
