to contribute towards the cost of 10 assessments and 6 counselling blocks of 8-10 sessions.
Amount awarded: £2000
This application is towards the cost of providing the counselling service specifically for mothers and grandmothers. The grant would pay for an assessment session (£50 per session) for 10 women (£500) and after assessment, 6 women would be offered counselling blocks of 8-10 sessions (£250 x 6 = £1,500). Counselling would be offered based on the assessors’ evaluations of who would benefit most from this type of support. The clients would be seen weekly for 8-10 weeks and then re-assessed. Counselling is provided by registered members of the British Association for Counselling & Physiotherapy. Once counselling is finished, each client is normally offered ongoing support which can range from a weekly chat, to help with getting back to work or reintegration back into the community by accompanying them to local events etc. They anticipate working with upwards of 40 women in 2016.
