Congratulations on receiving a grant from the Women’s Fund for Scotland. We are keen to promote the Women’s Fund for Scotland, so that people who have donated to us can see where the money goes, and more people become aware that Scotland has a fund specially to support women and girls.
By raising awareness of the work that we support we can have important conversations with potential donors. Raising funds from these potential donors is vitally important in ensuring we still have funds to make grants with. Your awareness raising may help you – or groups like you – to secure grants in the future.
It is a condition of your grant that you let people know that the Women’s Fund for Scotland have funded your project. Here are a selection of ways you can do that
Use the logo
You should use the logo on any publicity materials, posters, leaflets, handouts etc. which you produce in connection with your project.
It does not matter if it is black and white or colour and we are not fussy about precisely how big it is, just whatever is appropriate to the circumstances
To get a copy of the logo please email shona@womensfundscotland.org or download from this download link
Use the words
Funded by the Women’s Fund for Scotland
Ideally, you should add these words whenever you use the logo. If you cannot use the logo for any reason, you should at least try to use these words on your publicity material.
Link to our website
If you talk about your grant and our support online, please include a link to https://www.womensfundscotland.org/ – let us know and we will link back to you.
We have alerts set up with our name so we should get a notification if you acknowledge us in websites, blogs, or the press. We love seeing our logo on your website if this is possible. These updates get shared with others and used in our own efforts to secure future funding.
Social Media
Social media is a great way to get the word out throughout the lifetime of your project. For example, you could let people know about the funding and when the project will launch, publicise upcoming events or share stories from some of the people you’ve supported. If you have photos you can include that’s even better.
Please follow and tag Women’s Fund for Scotland so we can also share your good news! Our social media accounts are:
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WomensFundForScotland
Twitter: https://twitter.com/WomensFundScot
LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/womensfundscot
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/womensfundscotland/
We have started up 2 groups for our past and present grant partners to get to know each other, network, share information and help grow a vibrant women’s voluntary and community sector. Email shona@womensfundscotland.org for links and an invitation to join.
Films
If you have films that are relevant or feature the work we have helped to fund, please share the footage with us. With your permission we will have it edited to highlight the variety of work we support. This is one of the most powerful ways to inspire donors and potential donors.
Podcast
We launched our podcast in 2023 aiming to create a HERstory of groups funded by us AND to give our groups the chance to share their voice and their story. We’ve recorded and released many episodes across 2 seasons – please get in touch with Shona to participate in future seasons. We love sharing these stories and you can use the podcast for your own purposes too. Perhaps to share with other funders or donors.
Press Releases
Local newspapers love positive news stories from the communities they serve. Send a brief press release (or email) to your local paper about the funding being awarded or how it has been invested in your project, service or activities. The more human, the better. Try including things like:
- The people or place that your activity, service or project is benefitting
- The difference this will make, what are the intended outcomes
- Where the funding has come from and how much
- A quote from your organisation
- A quote from someone who has benefitted from the funding, for example, a member of your club, a local parent or perhaps a young person you’ve supported
- Photographs of your project where possible (and with permission from anyone featured). The newspaper might even send a photographer if they really like your news.
If you have any questions or would like some support with publicising your award, please get in touch.
Foundation Scotland
We work with the grant making charity Foundation Scotland to minimise our running costs. By paying Foundation Scotland to manage our grant making, we keep our costs low and ensure we have more funding to disburse. Foundation Scotland does not need to be acknowledged in any of our grants. If you wish to speak to them regarding the administration of your grant, send an email to grants@foundationscotland.org.uk
Please include copies of any publicity you have produced when you send in your completion report to Foundation Scotland when your project is over.
