Full description
The applicant is requesting grant monies to cover the costs of running creative workshops for women in Falkirk. Al Masaar aims to provide a series of art therapy workshops for women from ethnic minority backgrounds who find it difficult to engage with the local community because of language barriers. The workshops will have a particular focus on supporting people suffering from trauma, isolation, anxiety, depression, and lack of confidence ? issues the charity state have been exacerbated due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There will be 11 sessions in total, 6 in person, and 5 via zoom. The project will support approximately 28 women, who will be split into two different cohorts, with one supporting adult women, and one supporting young women aged 13-19. Sessions will be delivered by a female professional artist who has worked with the organisation on previous projects. The applicant hopes that the workshops will allow the women to share and explore personal reflections from their trauma, establish meaningful relationships, and learn new skills.
