Full description
The group carried out a very successful textile/craft project last year and are aiming to expand on this success. They worked with a group of older women to design, make and exhibit traditional Albanian costumes. This work has been given a permanent exhibit space in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery. The aim is to expand this project as it has had a massive impact on the women involved. By bringing the women together to produce this work they have learned new skills, made new social contacts and have increase their self esteem and sense of pride by presenting a positive aspect of their culture to Scotland. The grant will cover fees, crèche costs, materials, equipment and venue costs. The workshops will run for 12 weeks and the costumes will then be donated to the Open Museum.
