Full description
To contribute towards the cost of running a programme of Arts Workshops and an exhibition of work. The programme will run during the winter months from November 08 to April 09. An exhibition of work will be held in the local community to celebrate the achievements of participants. The Arts programme will enable them to develop their skills as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme which many of them are being encouraged to take part in to provide a focus in their lives. The project will involve a local textile artist and experienced volunteer community worker, who will teach weaving, textile techniques and design skills to foster group working, co-operation and self-confidence. The project aims to reach 17-18 year old girls who would benefit from feeling a part of the community via this project and resulting exhibition. This will encourage greater mutual understanding between residents and young people in the area. It is anticipated that 25 young people will benefit from this project.
