Full description
Care for Carers is seeking grant monies to cover the costs of running a project that will support women with caring responsibilities. The project can be defined by two key activities. In the first instance the project will implement a series of 20 counselling sessions to 10 carers who have been identified as needing additional support systems. This will amount to 200 sessions in total and activities will be delivered in person or digitally (depending on the needs of the individual). In the second instance, the project will deliver a residential stay to 24 women who require respite from their caring responsibilities. This activity will take place in a venue close to Edinburgh city (Biggar) and it is hoped that the activity will support carers to develop coping mechanisms and improve their health and wellbeing. The applicant reiterated the challenging times faced by carers over the last two years and highlighted for many they have not had any respite. The carers census identified there were 32,690 unique carers identified in 2019-20 and 31,760 in 2020-21. There are more female carers than male carers in every age group in both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 censuses, but the difference is most pronounced in the working-age carer group. The organisation aim to target this demographic. Activities will commence in April and end in March 2023.
Budget:
This application represents a grant request of £5,000.00 which will go towards an overall project budget of £7,190.00. The breakdown of the budget is as follows:
? Counselling (200 sessions delivered to 10 women (20 sessions each) at £20 per session) = £4,000.00
? Residential tutor costs (for holistic activities like meditation and yoga) = £390.00
? Contribution to residential costs (including subsistence and travel) = £2,800.00*
*Please note, the organisation will ensure that grant monies will abide by the 10% principle for non-consumables. This grant request will cover a portion of these costs but will primarily cover counselling and residential tutor costs.
