Full description
Female sport participation levels in teenage years drastically decrease compared to younger age groups, looking at our own participation levels the gender split is 66/34 in favour of male participants. Even at our usual sessions it is very rare for girls to be involved in the sporting side of things, through feedback from the participants they have stated that they would be more comfortable in taking part in sport if it was girls only. So to overcome this barrier we have created a lunchtime session at one of our local secondary schools aimed specifically at girls to get involved in sport and creative activity of their choice. We aim to not only increase their physical health and activity but also improve their confidence and mental wellbeing as well. The project will be run weekly during every friday lunchtimes and is led by a member of our full time staff and a group of young female volunteers within the school and will predominantly be indoors using one of the schools gym hall's. The project will run from 17th November until the end of the schooling year which will be 5th July, a meeting will then be arranged to see if the school would like to continue the project the next academic year.
