Towards the cost of establishing a befriending scheme for women who use the service. Befrienders would participate in a training programme to allow them to have a better understanding of domestic abuse and the role of a befriender. They would receive regular support and supervision. Travel expenses for befrienders would be required as would money for professional, social and cultural activities for the women they are befriending. Funding would be required to bring befrienders, and those they are working with, together to reduce isolation and may lead to the recipients being encouraged to become befrienders themselves.
