EC currently have one facilitator and one counsellor averaging 20 hours per week in total. Everything else is delivered voluntarily. As they have grown the challenge to meet the demand has increased. They are requesting funds to offer an additional Evolve and Confidence course each month for 12 months. This would support groups at each course of up to 8 women. Additional to that are venue costs. The Confidence course is spread over two day, of 4 hours each and the Evolve course comprises 16 hours over three days. They deliberately keep to half day sessions given many have childcare or other responsibilities and have told EC that full days would be too long, or difficult. The aim of the course is to help survivors of abuse to regain confidence, gain improved ability to cope with life challenges, and feel able to move on from their experiences.
The people leading the sessions are appropriately qualified.
This would offer support for 192 women mostly in Argyll and Bute, over the course of one year.
Budget:
Venue hire (less own contribution, also covering travel / stationery) £380
Sessional staff (£18 per hour for approx. 240 hours) less own contribution £4434
Total requested: £4814
