Full description
We would like to expand our two, weekly parent/carer groups (all women). Often, parents/carers can lose their self-identity when struggling with day-to-day family life - their sense of purpose understandably tied to their children?s needs/wants, and no time to focus on their needs or wants. Our parents/carers groups seek to provide a supportive, safe space for parents/carers to be themselves, and explore their likes, dislikes, realise aspirations, and build self-awareness and self-confidence to enable them to develop a stronger understanding of the things that are intrinsically rewarding for them. Research suggests that when people pursue goals that they are intrinsically self-motivated to pursue, they have an easier time persisting when things get difficult. Everyone faces challenges in life, but having the strength and resilience to combat difficulties will ensure a happier healthier life for them, and for their family.
Currently, we have two groups running, focused on providing wellbeing support for our parents/carers - a group running from Community House, Alloa on Mondays, and a group running from the Dumyat Centre, Menstrie on Wednesdays. Over the past year, our groups have become an integral part of our offer, and we know there is a need to deepen these activities further.
