The grant will cover the cost of staffing (£1,500); travel (£250); and snacks (£250). This will allow Home-Start Wigtownshire to continue to run a family support group (Tweenies) one afternoon per week in Stranraer. The project already has three well established Tweenies Groups which are funded by the Big Lottery. They operate in Stranraer, Newton Stewart and South Machars. This fourth group has been running for 18 months, initially through a grant from the Women?s Fund for Scotland. This grant is about to come to an end and they are looking for further funding to ensure that it can continue to operate. The annual running costs of the group is £8030. They have applied to Greggs for a grant of £2,000 to help meet the costs, are carrying out some community fundraising and are due to be the beneficiaries of a charity Christmas Fair, which will help to cover the cost. At present, seven families attend the group.
