Full description
The grant will contribute towards hall rental (£24 per hour) at a total cost of £2,400 for two hours a week x 50 weeks. This will allow for the continuation of a Women?s Drop-in service which runs for two hours every Tuesday afternoon in City Church in the Rosemount area. The drop-in provides women of all ages with a safe space where they can speak to someone in confidence, take part in social activities and reduce isolation. Beneficiaries are all at different stages of recovery and group leaders report that the positive stories of recovery and hope shared can inspire and encourage others. The majority of women attending the drop-in are struggling with issues such as drug and alcohol misuse, violence, homelessness, unmanageable debt, long term unemployment, physical or mental health conditions and criminal behaviour. 19 women attended the drop-in last year and numbers are expected to increase this year as a result of word spreading about it (17 women have already attended this year and we are only at the midpoint). Women are typically in the 20-50 age range.
