Full description
The project we are applying for is tagged 'Mothers & Daughters'. These interactive workshops are community based and focused on health and wellbeing, intimate care conversations. The workshop is targeted at mums and teen girls. It is the continuation of an existing project. The sessions are safe spaces, with no shaming or judgement, allowing people feel safe to relate, ask questions, network and get support. We will provide manuals and period education tool kits to aid period conversations and help tackle period poverty and stereotypes.
The Mothers & Daughters project aims to empower women and girls in Aberdeenshire to improve their health and wellbeing. Dispel periods barriers and stigma, promote informed practices for healthier, more confident lives for women and teen girls. Topics include mindfulness, puberty, feminine hygiene, mental health, emotional wellbeing and stress management.
Previous workshops had an average of 20 participants. The project hopes to deliver 6 empowerment workshops over the next 9 months to mums and teen girls including women of the BAME groups. We anticipate a higher attendance averaging 35-45 participants per workshop based on our new networks of toddler mums groups, local cafes, charities. With our new networks and mailing list, we foresee more attendance.
