The grant will cover the cost of staffing including a community artist (£6,137), sessional support staff (£740) and a freelance artist (£625); volunteer transport (£200); weekly hall hire (£288); event space (£700); refreshments (£400); art supplies (£650); art award costs (£240) and event invitations (£19). This will allow PEEK to deliver a project called Breakthrough. This is a 12 week programme focusing on young women and covering topics such as self-esteem, period poverty, gender discrimination, body image and gender based violence. Discussions will take place and group members will work on the topics and issues to create a creative display, performance or artwork to express their views which will be shared with other young people, families and friends. The plan is to run two separate Breakthrough programmes. The first will target young volunteers aged around 16 years who are already involved with activities at PEEK, in the second programme the young volunteers will deliver the programme to a younger group of participants, 12-13 year olds. They expect a total of 24 girls to benefit.
