RAA is applying for funding for their ?Justice Equality for Women and Children Project? which will support women and their children to recover and move on from domestic abuse and gender-based violence in the following ways: support to navigate the legal system; produce free non-harassment and non-molestation to the court (Solicitors can take months to produce these and charge up to £3000 for clients); act as a mediator for clients and support them to communicate with court, solicitors, procurator fiscal and social workers or draft emails/letters for the client to send; prepare witness statements, write reports and conduct research to support the legal requirements of clients; support clients to apply for legal aid if not already in place; deliver drop-in zoom sessions to help victims understand legal jargon, know how to present themselves in court and when communicating with legal professionals.
The group expect this project to benefit around 24 women.
Budget:
Paralegal services (35 hours a month at £20/hour for 5 months) £3500
Materials and Stationary (100x Stamps, £50 for Paper and around £90 for ink, £110 for ring binders, poly pockets, staples, stapler, highlighters, post-it notes, note pads, pens etc.) £350
