Full description
We have been running the Women's Wellbeing group for the last 9 months after a short pilot. The group has grown from strength to strength. After starting with 6 participants the group has grown to ten regular attendees. Two new people have came along and tried the group and hopefully we will see them again. One lady can only come fortnightly. We have moved premises to a more accessible venue which is warmer and will hopefully attract more new participants. The group runs weekly on a Monday night from 6 till 7.30 although the group leader is there from 5.30 in case anyone wishes to have a short private chat before the group. Content consists of weekly weigh in (if people wish to) which is a private thing with weight going straight to an app. People can share if they want to or not. I would say firmly that the group is not all about weight loss but to some people it is important. We have some sort of relaxation or exercise for 10 mins which could be chair exercises, yoga, relaxation or pilates. Then we have an exercise or teaching. This could be looking at food calories, moods, exercise, positive thinking, small changes, team building, mindset etc. The group is fun, informal and supportive. We have a safe space to explore and share if the group wish. The group are learning and becoming more supportive and accommodating of the diverse group and issues that they bring. A cuppa and a small snack is provided and the group is low cost or no cost at all. This makes the group inclusive to all. The group are given information and encouraged to follow moods and foods. The group have had a couple of social outings to celebrate the journey.
