Full description
This application is requesting grant monies to support a Leadership Program for women in mountain biking. This project will aim to provide a talent pathway for women to gain leadership skills and qualifications in order to increase the number of women participating in Mountain biking and to increase the representation of female leaders in Scotland. The project will allow a group of six women to attend leadership and first aid courses and will support them through the assessment process to gain relevant qualifications. The organisation hope to be able to use Peel Tower at Glentress near Peebles as a venue for training. Other mountain biking groups are active here and the venue has suitable land around the budling to run training, as well as the first aid course. Participants will travel to this venue from across Scotland. FNY hope that the project will not only evidence the benefits of women taking the leadership programme but will also allow them to act as guides and mentors for the other women who take part in the sport. In turn, this will increase the overall capacity of the organisation which is reliant on trained volunteers to deliver activities.
